Vaccination Against Salmonella enteritidis and Monitoring Vaccination Success

چکیده
Ever since the late 1980’s, when grade A shell eggs were associated for the first time with cases of human illness caused by Salmonella enteritidis (Se), the commercial layer industry in the United States has been presented with numerous and variable difficulties in presenting its product, the table egg, for what it is: a completely natural food item of excellent nutritional value, with undoubtedly the highest quality protein of animal origin, and at the absolutely lowest cost. The key words in this statement are “of animal origin”, because in todays regulatory environment this implies that safety may be at risk.

Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis live vaccine strain in the reproductive organs of laying goose after subcutaneous vaccination
Serovar-specific real-time PCR for Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) was conductedto detect the genomic DNA of S. Enteritidis from laying goose after subcutaneous vaccination at differenttime points. Indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) technique and immunohistochemical localization wereemployed to validate the results. The results showed that S. Enteritidis was consistent...
متن کاملPrevention of egg contamination by Salmonella Enteritidis after oral vaccination of laying hens with Salmonella Enteritidis ΔtolC and ΔacrABacrEFmdtABC mutants
Vaccination of laying hens has been successfully used to reduce egg contamination by Salmonella Enteritidis, decreasing human salmonellosis cases worldwide. Currently used vaccines for layers are either inactivated vaccines or live attenuated strains produced by mutagenesis. Targeted gene deletion mutants hold promise for future vaccines, because specific bacterial functions can be removed that...

Objective(s):Typhoid fever is a dreadful disease of a major threat to public health in developing countries. Vaccination with bacterial immunodominant components such as surface proteins may prove as a potent alternative to live attenuated vaccines. InvH, an important part of needle complex in type three secretion system (TTSS) plays important role in efficient bacterial adherence and entry int...
متن کاملVaccination of Chickens with SPI1-lon and SPI1-lon-fliC Mutant of Salmonella enterica Serovar Enteritidis
The prevalence of Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis is gradually decreasing in poultry flocks in the EU, which may result in the demand for a vaccine that allows for the differentiation of vaccinated flocks from those infected by wild-type S. Enteritidis. In this study, we therefore constructed a (Salmonella Pathogenicity Island 1) SPI1-lon mutant with or without fliC encoding for S. Ente...
متن کاملPrime-boost vaccination with attenuated Salmonella Typhimurium ΔznuABC and inactivated Salmonella Choleraesuis is protective against Salmonella Choleraesuis challenge infection in piglets
BACKGROUND Salmonella enterica serovar Choleraesuis (S. Choleraesuis) infection causes a systemic disease in pigs. Vaccination could represent a solution to reduce prevalence in farms. In this study, we aimed to assess the efficacy of an attenuated strain of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium ΔznuABC) against S. Choleraesuis infection. The vaccination protocol combined prim...
